Denaturation

From the Artist…

Denaturation examines what develops when persistent pressure starts to change something fundamentally. It draws a subtle analogy between internal strain and lack of stability and the biological process of protein structures unravelling under heat.

The facial surface is covered in intense, saturated colour that overwhelms rather than describes it. These strong tones allude to forces that gradually push inside, eroding boundaries and warping things that seemed unbroken. Hovering between perception and destruction, the figure refuses clarity.

As opposed to portraying collapse as a singular moment, Denaturation lingers in the slow undoing, when identity erodes, function fails, and the self starts to change under circumstances it was never intended to survive.’
