‘Solace & Lust explores the intricate and often contradictory relationship between comfort and desire, capturing the tension between vulnerability and longing, closeness and safety.
The large abstract flower is a representation of solace - warm, cosy, and comforting moments, those peaceful, healing places we hold onto in the middle of life's turmoil. In its imperfect and urgent form, the abstracted face form symbolises lust - an expression of desire that can be beautiful, overwhelming, and complex. The emotional fluctuation of human experience, the affection, the intensity, the times when comfort and desire meet, clash, or coexist, is reflected in the colour gradient, which changes from gentle pink to vivid yellow.
The intricacy of human feeling, how we look to connection for comfort. How desire can be both reassuring and daunting. How these factors influence how we perceive intimacy and ourselves. Solace & Lust confronts you with the conflict between the intimate and the passionate, the soft and the desperate, and how these urges coexist inside of us.’
